Seafood Traders Pty Ltd, through its major shareholding in Marine Biotechnology Australia Pty Ltd, has been at the forefront of research into potential anti viral compounds derived from Tasmanian abalone. Begun in 2002 the pioneering research conducted by The University of Sydney’s Department of Bio Molecular Engineering and The Westmead Millennium Institute is close to developing anti viral treatments effective against the Herpes simplex virus.
